Weekend getaways planned around real drive times and two short nights
A weekend trip has almost no slack. Leave at 5 p.m. on a Friday and you meet the same traffic as everyone else. Arrive after the front desk closes and your first night starts with a phone call. Pick a place 20 minutes too far out and you lose Saturday to the car.
Our weekend guides are built around those limits: how far you can realistically go in a Friday evening, which reservations need to be made early, what a two-night trip really costs once gas, parking and meals are added, and when a weekend away is worth it versus a day trip.
We'll also cover how to get started with weekend trips and the beginner mistakes that burn the most time. No weekend stories are published yet; for now, the list below tracks slow-weekend ideas from other travel publications.
